In the heart of Norwich, one man has turned his love for Christmas and motorcycles into a unique and joyous tradition. Since 2019, Norwich Motorcycle Santa has been spreading smiles and festive cheer as he cruises through the streets on his reindeer-adorned bike, dressed as the jolly man himself.

For Motorcycle Santa, the idea came about during an unexpected break from work. “I wasn’t working for the first time from the 20th to the 24th, so I thought I’d get creative with those days, and that’s when Norwich Motorcycle Santa was born,” he shares. It wasn’t driven by a grand plan or a specific motivation—just a simple desire to spread love, joy, and happiness.

And spread happiness he does. “I absolutely love it,” he beams. “Seeing all the faces light up and smile makes it all 100% worth it.” The reactions vary: younger children often look confused or wide-eyed in wonder, while older kids and adults can’t hide their excitement. “The adults—they go absolutely NUTS when they see me riding about!”

Dressing up his motorcycle as a reindeer is a personal highlight. “I think my favourite part is definitely dressing the bike up,” he says. It’s an eye-catching spectacle, combining the magic of Christmas with the thrill of roaring through the streets on two wheels.

While Christmas isn’t necessarily his own favourite holiday, he cherishes its importance to others. “Christmas was never really a special time just for ME, but for the MAJORITY of people, it is,” he reflects. On Christmas Day itself, Motorcycle Santa swaps his riding gear for family traditions. The morning begins with presents under the tree, Christmas songs playing in the background, and a “proper full English breakfast” lovingly prepared by his dad. The rest of the day is spent enjoying time with loved ones and, of course, squeezing in some Xbox gaming with friends.

The most heartwarming moment of his journey so far? Being featured on the front page of the Eastern Daily Press. “It was surreal,” he recalls. But despite the recognition, he remains steadfast in his purpose. “I’ve always said to everyone that I don’t do this for charity or to make myself look good. I just hope that when people see a reindeer-looking motorcycle with a motorcyclist dressed as Santa, it makes them happy.”

As for the future, Norwich Motorcycle Santa plans to continue his festive rides for as long as possible. “I’ve always said I’ll keep doing this until I have a legitimate big white fluffy Santa beard,” he laughs.

Motorcycle Santa might not have a favourite spot, but wherever his reindeer bike goes, it’s sure to bring festive magic to the streets of Norwich. If you happen to spot him this December, don’t be shy—give him a wave and share in the joy he brings. After all, it’s not every day you see Santa Claus on two wheels!
