From the vibrant streets of Rio de Janeiro to the multicultural energy of London, Nonô’s life is a celebration of music, movement, and connection. As a rising star in the global music scene, her sound is as colourful and dynamic as her story—a unique blend of Brazilian Electronic music that brings people together on dance floors around the world.

Nonô’s latest EP, +55, captures the essence of her journey. Named after Brazil’s international dialling code, the EP explores themes of connection, disconnection, and the in-between moments that define self-discovery. “My EP +55 talks about connection and disconnection. It’s about the real and the digital world, and it’s also about self-discovery,” she explains. Each track reflects a part of her life, from the spontaneity and freedom of living in the moment, as portrayed in Alô, to the warmth of family connections in Vem.

With 170 million streams and over 1 million monthly listeners, Nonô has built incredible momentum in the music world. She credits collaborations and consistent releases for helping her grow as an artist. “Over the years, I’ve been able to work with DJs, which really helped widen and build my audience,” she shares.

“‘Alô’ is possibly the most connected to the EP’s name as +55 is Brazil’s country code for international calls,” she says. “The song talks about not having a bigger plan on where the night is gonna take me. So, it’s about living in the moment, disconnected, with ‘no 3G and no WhatsApp.’” Meanwhile, Vem is inspired by Sundays back home in Brazil with her family. “I’m very proud of this song because I think I was able to encapsulate a Sunday afternoon with my family back in Brazil,” Nonô adds.

Relocating to London was a pivotal moment for Nonô. Driven by the desire to share her music with the world, the move opened doors to new cultures and sounds. “I moved because I wanted to make music that could reach the entire world,” she explains. “Moving to London allowed me to understand different styles of music, different cultures, and sounds that I could then mix into my own musical palette.” This genre-blending approach is evident in her music, where baile-funk meets house beats and Latin pop mingles with electronic waves.

For Nonô, music isn’t just a career—it’s her entire world. “My whole life is music. Most of my UK friends are in music, and I’m very fortunate that most of my days are spent working, talking, or listening to music,” she shares. Her passion for live performances is equally evident. “Sharing that energy with the audience—feeling their presence, seeing them dance, and vibing together—is what truly drives me,” she says.

Beyond her career, Nonô finds joy in hobbies that offer a creative escape. “Video games, embroidery, and reading!” she says, listing her top three activities when she’s not making music. But her heart often drifts back to Brazil. “From Brazil, I miss my family, the food, and the sun—not necessarily in that order!” she laughs.

Good News: A Greener Future for the Amazon

Nonô is passionate about spreading positivity, and one story that fills her with hope is a significant environmental milestone from her home country. “Apparently, this year we recorded the lowest level of deforestation in the Amazon in the last five years,” she shares. “Compared to 2023, it dropped by 30.6%! That’s incredible progress.”

This sense of optimism is something Nonô carries with her, not just in her music but in her outlook on life. She believes that sharing good news can inspire others to believe in change and work towards a brighter future.

Looking Ahead: Big Dreams and Bold Visions

Nonô’s vision for the future is as ambitious as her music. In 2025, she plans to promote +55 with a UK tour, release more music, and perform globally. But her dreams extend beyond the stage. “I’d love to headline Rock in Rio, Coachella, Glastonbury, and also, later in my life, I’d love to open a music institute back in Brazil to help out anyone who has ever dreamed as much as I have,” she says.

Her love for Brazilian music runs deep, and she hopes to see it take a larger place on the global stage. “I think Brazilian music is gonna become more prominent within the mainstream media,” she explains. “In the near future, it might end up taking as much space as reggaeton and K-pop, especially since language barriers are being broken more and more every day because of social media. I hope I can help show different sides and sounds of Brazil—not just baile funk, but a bit of samba, sambalanço, bossa nova, and MPB.”

Nonô’s journey is a testament to the power of passion and persistence. Whether it’s through her music, her message of positivity, or her dreams of uplifting others, she’s creating a legacy that goes far beyond the dance floor.

As she puts it: “The biggest musical challenge has been finding my own sound. Over these past few years, I felt pressured by myself as if I needed to do a specific genre when I’ve always wanted to have musical freedom.” For Nonô, that freedom is what drives her music—and it’s exactly what she wants to share with the world.
